Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Your wisdom teeth are the four permanent adult teeth located in the very back corners of your mouth on the top and bottom. They usually come in between the ages of 17 and 25. Wisdom teeth can be problematic because often, there simply isn’t room inside your mouth for them to grow. When they become wedged between another tooth and the jaw and fail to even break through the gum line, we say that the teeth have become “impacted.”

Why Remove Wisdom Teeth?

  • Wisdom teeth often become impacted and cause severe pain.
  • Sometimes, they should be removed because they are likely to become impacted.
  • Because food particles can be easily trapped between a properly grown in wisdom tooth and the jaw, infections may occur frequently.
  • Wisdom teeth can crowd and misalign remaining teeth.
  • Wisdom teeth that do come in compeletely, are often misaligned and run against cheeks or tongue causing pain.

Comfortable Care with Sedation Dentistry

We know that removing your wisdom teeth can feel a little overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. At Designer Smiles, we offer safe and effective sedation options, including IV sedation, to help you feel totally relaxed during your visit. Many of our patients say they don’t even remember the procedure afterward! Whether you’re nervous about dental work or just want the process to be as smooth as possible, we’ve got you covered.

No Referral Needed – We Handle It All Here

Thanks to our advanced CBCT (cone beam) technology, we can get a detailed 3D image of your teeth and jaw, which helps us see exactly what’s going on before we ever begin. This technology allows Dr. Jeff to carefully plan your procedure and often means there’s no need to refer you out to an oral surgeon.

Best of all, you won’t have to visit a separate specialist. Dr. Jeff Harrie, the same dentist you already know and trust, performs the extraction himself. That means no bouncing between offices, and no new faces. You’ll recieve experienced care from the team you already feel comfortable with.

At Designer Smiles, we believe continuity of care matters. You deserve a seamless experience from someone who knows your smile and understands your needs.

The Extraction Process

Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth. It is a fairly common procedure, and in most cases, it is very simple. Occasionally other complications arise and extraction is more difficult. Wisdom teeth can come in sideways or be impacted which can make them harder to remove. But you can feel confident that Dr. Jeff at Designer Smiles is up for the challenge. He and his team are committed to providing you with the most stress free and painless experience possible.
