At Designer Smiles we take pride in using the most up-to-date technology and equipment. From modern microscopes through which we can analyze the specific causes of periodontitis, to the high-definition cameras, scanners, and x-rays we use daily, we are excited to provide you access to some of the finest dental technology available.
CEREC
The CEREC mill is an amazing piece of equipment that not only makes our job easier but also improves the quality and speed of creation of your dental restorations.
With a CEREC in the office, we can craft crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays, and much more to specifically fit your mouth. We then have them created while you’re still in the dental chair. No waiting for days to hear from a lab. No coordination of separate appointments. No messy bite molds. Just a fast and easy way to get high-quality dental work!
Lasers
Lasers may sound like a thing of the future, but they are, in fact, becoming increasingly common in everyday dental offices. In our own Fargo location, we carry both Waterlase and diode lasers.
Dental lasers can be used for a number of useful things, including soft-tissue cleaning, pediatric fillings, frenectomies, the treatment of cold sores, some small adult fillings, and various surgeries.
One of the benefits of a laser treatment is that lasers are precise. They only affect the intended area, with little to no damage of the surrounding tissues. This means that treatment is more efficient and healing is more effective.
KaVo Kerr 3-D Imaging
Three-dimensional imaging has truly transformed the way we diagnose and treat dental and periodontal problems. Here in our office we use KaVo Op 3D imaging equipment. This allows us to clearly see both soft and hard tissues in and surrounding the oral cavity.
These images aren’t just great for finding and treating infected tissue. They can provide a wide variety of information that helps us keep your teeth, gums, and entire oral cavity healthy.
- We can diagnose problems such as sleep apnea by getting a good look at airways, sinuses, and other passages.
- We can use the 3D images to choose exactly where to place a dental implant.
- We can even learn more about how your wisdom teeth are developing and what the ideal removal process will look like.
You’re in great hands with KaVoKerr 3D imaging available in our office.
T-Scan
A T-scan is a highly useful device in determining orthodontic treatment needs. T-scans measure bite force. These T-scans can measure how strong your jaw is, where it is the strongest, and how it lines up between your upper and lower jaws.
Balance is vital in both the longevity of your teeth and in preventing or treating stress in your temporomandibular joint or TMJ. We love that we can offer the T-scan to maintain the health of your facial structure.
Air Polisher
Just as there is more than one way to fill a gap in your bite, there is more than one way to clean and polish teeth. An air polisher uses pressurized air, along with a slurry of cleansing powder, to painlessly rid your teeth of plaque film and stains.
CariVu and DIAGNOdent
Both of these incredible systems are methods we can use to detect cavities earlier than ever. Before we can easily see them with the naked eye, CariVu and DIAGNOdent can scan for and locate dental decay.
CariVu uses a near-infrared light to do this. The low-frequency wavelength finds cracks and lesions by how it reflects off of them. DIAGNOdent uses a diode laser to do much the same thing.
Digital X-rays
Digitizing has radically transformed dentistry. X-rays have always been vital to effective diagnosis and treatment, but digital x-rays take the process several steps further by eliminating the need for paper usage, physical film, lab and transport time, and storage needs.
On top of all these benefits, digital x-rays use less radiation for an even more high-definition image that is safer than ever.
Intraoral Camera
Intraoral cameras are useful in a huge variety of situations. We can use them to get a closer look at any problems in your mouth, scan for tooth measurements, check our work to make sure that you have received proper care and treatment, or simply to get a good look at any hidden or hard-to-reach spaces.
