Advanced Dental Technology

At Designer Smiles we take pride in using the most up-to-date technology and equipment.Advanced Dental Technology at Designer Smiles in Fargo, ND From modern microscopes through which we can analyze the specific causes of periodontitis, to the high-definition cameras, scanners, and x-rays we use daily, we are excited to provide you access to some of the finest dental technology available.

CEREC

The CEREC mill is an amazing piece of equipment that not only makes our job easier but also improves the quality and speed of creation of your dental restorations.

With a CEREC in the office, we can craft crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays, and much more to specifically fit your mouth. We then have them created while you’re still in the dental chair. No waiting for days to hear from a lab. No coordination of separate appointments. No messy bite molds. Just a fast and easy way to get high-quality dental work!

Lasers

Lasers may sound like a thing of the future, but they are, in fact, becoming increasingly common in everyday dental offices. In our own Fargo location, we carry both Waterlase and diode lasers.

Dental lasers can be used for a number of useful things, including soft-tissue cleaning, pediatric fillings, frenectomies, the treatment of cold sores, some small adult fillings, and various surgeries.

One of the benefits of a laser treatment is that lasers are precise. They only affect the intended area, with little to no damage of the surrounding tissues. This means that treatment is more efficient and healing is more effective.

3D Printing

We love using the newest technology to improve your dental experience at Designer Smiles. With 3D printing, we can design precise, custom solutions to provide comfort and improve treatments.

Here are some of the ways we can use 3D printing:

  • Splints, Deprogrammers, and Nightguards: Grinding teeth at night is an issue for many and can lead to stiffness and pain in the jaw. If you have jaw pain or grind your teeth at night, we can make a custom nightguard to help protect your teeth and ease pressure. A deprogrammer can help alleviate those tension headaches, sore jaw, and other TMJ symptoms.
  • Dental Models: Conventional impressions use a putty-like material that can be uncomfortable and messy. Using 3D printing we can craft custom retainers (also called Essix retainers) and other needed appliances that are incredibly accurate without the hassle of a putty. These help replace missing teeth for a nicer smile or to help prevent shifting of your teeth!
  • Surgical Guides: Precision is essential when placing dental implants. 3D-printed surgical guides help ensure implants are positioned accurately.

This incredible technology helps us to make your visits more efficient, comfortable, and tailored to your needs.

3D Dental Imaging at Designer Smiles in Fargo, ND

KaVo Kerr OP 3D (CBCT) Technology

Three-dimensional imaging has truly transformed the way we diagnose and treat dental and periodontal problems. Here in our office, we use KaVo Kerr Op 3D imaging equipment, to capture incredibly detailed images of your teeth, jawbone, nerves, sinuses, and surrounding structures.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scans offer a clearer, more complete picture than traditional x-rays, all while being quick, non-invasive, and performed right here in our office. These scans aren’t just great for spotting infections or damage—they also help us provide more accurate, customized care.

  • We can evaluate your airways and sinuses to assist in diagnosing sleep apnea.
  • We can pinpoint the exact placement of dental implants.
  • We can plan for wisdom tooth extractions by seeing their position in detail.

You’re in great hands with CBCT technology at Designer Smiles.

T-Scan

A T-scan is a highly useful device in determining orthodontic treatment needs. T-scans measure bite force. These T-scans can measure how strong your jaw is, where it is the strongest, and how it lines up between your upper and lower jaws.

Balance is vital in both the longevity of your teeth and in preventing or treating stress in your temporomandibular joint or TMJ. We love that we can offer the T-scan to maintain the health of your facial structure.

Cutting-Edge Dental Technology for Fargo, ND, West Fargo, and Moorhead, MNAir Polisher

Just as there is more than one way to fill a gap in your bite, there is more than one way to clean and polish teeth. An air polisher uses pressurized air, along with a slurry of cleansing powder, to painlessly rid your teeth of plaque film and stains.

CariVu and DIAGNOdent

Both of these incredible systems are methods we can use to detect cavities earlier than ever. Before we can easily see them with the naked eye, CariVu and DIAGNOdent can scan for and locate dental decay.

CariVu uses a near-infrared light to do this. The low-frequency wavelength finds cracks and lesions by how it reflects off of them. DIAGNOdent uses a diode laser to do much the same thing.

Digital X-rays

Digitizing has radically transformed dentistry. X-rays have always been vital to effective diagnosis and treatment, but digital x-rays take the process several steps further by eliminating the need for paper usage, physical film, lab and transport time, and storage needs.

On top of all these benefits, digital x-rays use less radiation for an even more high-definition image that is safer than ever.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras are useful in a huge variety of situations. We can use them to get a closer look at any problems in your mouth, scan for tooth measurements, check our work to make sure that you have received proper care and treatment, or simply to get a good look at any hidden or hard-to-reach spaces.
